I canโt believe itโs already October! But, as a lover of the fall season, I am ready!
Join me below for some insights on making the most of challenges, a recap of my last in-person events for the year, and a very personal prayer request.
Making the Most of Challenges
After a whirlwind of a month, both practically and emotionally (more on that in a minute), I come to this newsletter with no fresh message for this space. So, in lieu of a devotion, I invite you to enjoy this roundup of my recent social media post series based on insights from Just Megan: “Gleaning Growth From Struggle.” Feel free to share!
Behind the Screen

The last half of September was a busy time! On September 20, my church hosted their last community breakfast of the year and invited me and my book to be part of the fun. Thank you again to everyone who turned out for good food, a reading, and book-signing! Also, a huge shout-out to the outreach team who worked hard to make this event a success.
Then, on September 27, I had the privilege of sharing my story at Wings of Eagles Ranch, at their Dinner at the Ranch fundraiser. We all enjoyed a warm evening in the Ranch’s beautifully decorated arena. I also had the fun of participating as one of three riders in a short riding lesson demo. My mount was a a tall, handsome bay gelding named Cowboy (you know; important details).
Now I’m ready for a quiet fall in which to recharge, spend time with loved ones, and work on my other writing projects. I’ve loved the excitement and interaction of introducing my book to the world, and I’m certainly not finished helping it find the people who need it. But this author needs to rest and regather her bearings. I also have a personal reason for slowing downโplease read the prayer request below.
To this end, I’ll be taking the rest of October off from BeanSpired Editions’ social media and will take the rest of 2025 off from in-person events.
I look forward to coming back online with fresh inspiration in November!
A special prayer request
Normally, I limit the prayer requests I share via my author platforms to writing-related needs. But now Iโm making a special exception.
Many of you know my mom, either directly or through the pages of Just Megan. Sheโs one amazing woman, whose faith shaped mine and who has always been there for me (not to mention our whole family).
This past summer, Mom began experiencing back pain that eventually led doctors to order an MRI. Originally, the MRI was scheduled for early October; but my mom, ever proactive, was able to get a spot in late August. The MRI in turn led to a biopsy, then a CT scan, plus a bunch of other tests. On September 12, we received the official diagnosis: My mom has lung cancer that is also in some of her bones. She has never smoked and is overall one of the healthiest, most active people I know.
God has blessed her with a great care team and wonderful support system, and has been opening doors for speedy diagnosis and treatment. But sheโs only just started the fight and needs all the prayers she can get.
Please join our family in praying for effective treatment with minimal side effects and complete healing. Please pray also for her (and our familyโs) spirits as we navigate this wilderness. Weโve been through many deserts before, but cancer is in a league of its own.
Thank you on behalf of our whole family. โค๏ธ
