In my February newsletter, I mentioned that Rare Disease Day is coming up—this Saturday, to be exact.
As many of you know, I share the story of my own rare disease journey in my book, Just Megan: A Story of Grace and Resilience in the Face of the Unknown. Like many rare disease warriors, I spent many years undiagnosed due to limited knowledge of my disorder among both the general public and the medical community. Even today, with growing awareness and research, life with my condition includes many unique challenges. Yet I’ve discovered God’s goodness and faithfulness in the midst of every unknown and hardship.
This year’s Rare Disease Day theme is “More Than You Can Imagine.” One goal of my book is to bring readers beyond imagining to understanding. To allow them to live a slice of the rare experience so they can walk in greater solidarity with people who live it every moment of every day.
