Hello, friends! My apologies for getting this out late. Between recent travel and finalizing some details for upcoming fun (more on that below), I finished it later than planned. We’ll count this as the newsletter for both May and June, and come back in early July. Read on for a reflection on faith-filled prayer, the much-anticipated Selah Award results, and an invitation to join a very special book’s upcoming birthday celebration.
A Rewarded Faith
In the wake of my momโs cancer diagnosis last September, my prayer life entered a rocky place. To put the matter simply, I wasnโt sure how to pray anymore.
Since Momโs back pain began, Iโd prayed for good resultsโor at least not-too-bad resultsโon at least two diagnostic tests. In answer, God had delivered what felt like the worst results possible.
I knew better than to assume God would give me anything I asked for if I prayed “just right.” But the Bible clearly teaches weโre to pray with faith. My question became: faith in what?
Through His Word and the counsel of fellow Christians, God reminded me of the answer: faith that He can do anything, and that He will do whatโs best. Not necessarily that He’ll give us what we ask for, but that He’ll give us what weโre truly seekingโHimself.
Faith-filled prayer is ultimately an act of approaching God. And He’s pleased to respond by drawing near to us (cf. Jeremiah 29:13; Hebrews 11:6; James 4:8). He comes to us with His love, His faithfulness, His righteousness, His strength, His sovereignty, and all that He is.
So, when you pray, approach God with all thatโs on your heart, believing that He will respond. And whatever that response looks like in terms of your circumstances, rest in the confidence that He is near youโand wants to be.
Selah Awards Update

On Thursday, May 28, I attended the long-awaited Selah Awards ceremony at the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference. There, I had the honor of receiving the second place award in the Memoir category.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Athena and Carol, two members of the Redemption Press publishing team, in person. They (and the rest of the team) have been incredibly supportive of me and my message. From giving Just Megan a chance at publication with excellence, to believing in it enough to put forward to Selah nomination, they’ve affirmed this gift God has entrusted to me and given it the best opportunity to shine. I’m more thankful than I can expressโand proud to be among the Selah authors representing RP.
Thank you to everyone who’s cheered me on along the path to the Selah Awards. And a special thank-you to my family for joining me, helping me, and supporting me that special evening. Y’all are the best. โค๏ธ
P.S. Book-lovers, be sure to peruse the full list of Selah winners. Whether you enjoy mystery or romance, devotionals or biblical fiction, you just might find your next favorite read!
